Readings and Resources for World History of Dance

I will present choices each time we have a reading. Please pick the one that most fits: where you are in your learning, what you want to learn about, etc. I have taken the time to create these varied readings in order to give you a class that meets you where you are and takes you further. It will be tempting to pick the shortest reading, but don't give in to that- it ultimately will limit what you learn and take with you from this class if that's not honestly what you are interested in or need!

Some scans from books are from my own personal copies. You will see they are marked up. Those are things that are important to me, for me. Not necessarily things I think are meaningful for you (but maybe!).

For any given reading assignment: You are responsible for 1. You are welcome to read all.

Readings will be posted before we explore those concepts in class.

A journal prompt will be offered as well, to help guide both the readings and the class explorations. Your journals are due on the date in the syllabus. These may be written (in a notebook which you will take photos of and send me), typed (a Google doc you can share with me), or be a series of videos (make an unlisted YouTube playlist and send me the link). There will also be journal prompts given in class around the experiences/discussions.
